Aliza will be traveling with a group of women chef’s to Southwest India in a tour sponsored by Women Chefs and Restaurateurs. The tour is being led by noted Indian cooking teacher and author, Ruta Kahate and will feature a visit to a spice farm, cooking classes, market tours, with stops in Cochin (center of Indian-Jewish culture), Goa (once a Portuguese colony), Kerala (the land of spices) and Mumbai (a bustling city of food lovers).

Les Dames d’Escoffier
Aliza will attending the annual conference of Les Dames d’Escoffier in Honolulu, Hawaii. Les Dames d'Escoffier is a leadership culinary organization composed of women who have achieved success in their profession and contribute significantly to their communities. Aliza has been appointed Second Vice-President of the Philadelphia Chapter, of which she is a charter member. The 2009 conference will be held in Philadelphia during the 25th anniversary year of the chapter.

Starting with Ingredients Baking National Tour
Aliza’s new cookbook, Starting with Ingredients Baking, will be published by Running Press. She will be doing a national tour demonstrating the more than 350 international recipes from the book, which features sweet and savory baked goods in recipes she has gathered from recent visits to Italy, Greece, Turkey, from her own Jewish heritage, and her many years of baking at home and in restaurants.
